Perfect for our family and pup

We have absolutely loved our stay here. It was perfect for my kids, my dad, and my pup. Even with the beach renovation happening for the first half of our stay, it was everything we needed. The Wi-Fi was perfect for my son to game and my dad to work. The views and proximity to the beach were to die for. It felt like a home away from home to us. There was everything we could need and then some. Bring trash bags and dish soap or detergent for the washing machine. We brought our own linens. Mattress covers, pillows and blankets were provided though. Sun Realty was a dream to work with too. Always answered all my questions leading up to the trip. And all of the questions my dad had once we were here. I hope you all love it as much as our family did!

love the location

Loved the location. Very quiet area and great views of the beach and sunrise. The kitchen was well equipped but the pans all stick good to them when we cooked. The beds are older and not as comfortable as expected.

perfect for our needs

When it rained the driveway turned into a mud bog. Maybe a few loads of gravel? The kitchen was well equipped and perfect for our needs! The beds and living area were great!

Mr. And Mrs.

We had an amazing week's vacation!! The house is very well stocked and comfy!! A few quirks, the front deck outside light doesn't work, and the driveway is tricky very Sandy and small cars can get stuck. Otherwise a lovely and charming and cozy home!! We will be back!! Steve and mary

Todd's Inn family vacation July 2018

Great home right on the oceanfront! Well stocked with everything you would need for a week! The kitchen is very well equipped and there are plenty of supplies in the laundry room to keep you occupied on the beach! don't judge a book by it's cover because while the outside definitely shows that it is an Oceanfront home with visible wear and tear the inside of this home is definitely a comfortable stay for a week! The only real let-down of this property was that the posted photo of the view from the deck is not an accurate representation. I can only assume that this is because of the beach nourishment projects they have going on. I assume the pictures were taken before the beach nourishment project started and they haven't updated their photo. You can still see the ocean it's just not a full beach view. I do think it's worth mentioning that even if there is a paved road to access the house we did not see it. It is completely sand and there are places where the sand is deep and soft so just take caution when you drive back to the house. Both of our vehicles are four wheel drive so we didn't have a problem getting in and out but if my sister had brought her smaller car it may have been an issue. Overall this was an excellent week at the beach! Even if the weather didn't fully cooperate we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Todd's Inn!

Ms.

A beautiful serene view greeted me on our first vacation in September. What a lovely week. This home is very well equipped, comfortable and well maintained. I have vacationed in OBX over the last 7 years and this cottage is one of my favorites. A friend and I decided to rent at the last minute and this was one of 2-3 properties available through Sun Realty that was pet friendly and ocean front, so this was not a "must have" rental. But it is my first choice for vacation next year! 4 nice bedrooms, large and comfortable great room. TVs everywhere with plenty of stations, nice picnic space under the house, plus nice washer and dryer. It was great! And, as usual, Sun Realty was a pleasure to work with-quick maintenance response, excellent, caring and responsible customer service. I only ever work through Sun to rent every year.

Todd's Inn - May 2013

This is a great house. Yes, it needs a little work here and there, but it's a beach house. They take quite a beating from the elements. This is a perfect place for a small family. The only realistic issues would be access to the house; the only way in is a sandy road and if you do not have an SUV you may have trouble getting in and out.But it's not that bad. We have a 4WD SUV and didn't even have to use the 4WD. Also, the washer and dryer are downstairs and require going outside to use them. Otherwise, no complaints. Wonderful kitchen, best equipped of anywhere we've ever stayed.Comfortable couches and beds. Excellect gas grill on the deck. Nice Sony TV. And the BEST shower. We try to get to the OBX at least once a year. We will most certainly be back at Todd's Inn. Now, if they could only get their neighbour to paint his house......

Todd's Inn -- late August 2012

We enjoyed our week at Todd’s Inn but were very unhappy with the parking situation; we would not recommend the place to anyone without four-wheel drive. Both our car and truck got stuck in the sand and we could not come and go when we wanted. Sun Realty did send someone in with a bobcat to dig out some of the sand in the driveway, but that did not help much as there was no traction underneath; new gravel or something needs to be added. Luckily the renters next door (who frequently got stuck in the sand when they passed our driveway on the one-lane road leading in) helped push us out, and a nearby owner offered his driveway to us when he was not there. The house itself overall is very nice. I have to agree with an earlier post that it felt like it needed a good spring cleaning, but I think that is because the place is old (which adds to its charm) and the living room furniture cushions do need replacing, plus the white living room rug is stained, adding to the dirty feeling. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. There are lots of books, games and movies available around the house. Two people could shower at the same time with the dishwasher running, and there was plenty of water pressure and hot water for all. Views of the ocean and access to it are ideal.

Todd's Inn --- week of 5-26-12

The house is in a great location. I can't help but agree with alot from the past reviewer. The back screen door weighs a ton and closes on you, the back door does not lock without the key (I will be calling about this today), you cannot lock the door by hand. The railings on the deck are loose, kinda scary with kids. The cable tv in the house is lacking - channels - that is. There was one kids channel that worked, all of the rest stated not authorized, which when you have to spend the day in the house, disney and nick are what kids watch. One step above basic cable is not what we have ever had on any other vacation while we were staying here. :( Love how the kitchen is well equipped, we did/are doing alot of cooking. The beds are advertised as queens, I have a queen bed at home that seems a little bigger, but who knows maybe I am just nit picking. I will definately use SunRealty for our next vacation, we have used them for 3 out of the past 4 years we have come down, but I don't think this house will be our first choice.

599-A - Todd's Inn

My parents and I (plus my toddler) stayed here in May. This place has its pros and cons. The road to the place is washed out, and you step out of your car in sand - so plan on getting sand in your car unless you're very careful. The driveway will only fit 2 cars. If you like a front door that hits you in the butt, then you're going to like this place! And if you're hercules, you'll be able to open up the sliding glass door to the deck -- and a deck that def. needs some maintenance! The safety gate didn't work (which was a concern w/a toddler), so we gerry-rigg'd it so that it would keep him from going down. A worker came to fix it (couldn't), and said the deck wasn't built propertly (feels fairly wobbly). The place appeared to not have had a spring cleaning for quite awhile. The drapes/curtains had a thick layer of dust on them. The living room furniture was a joke - I'm sure it was nice 10 yrs. ago, but the seat cushions had little firmness. I was tempted to go and buy smthg comfortable to sit in. I really didn't want to sit on the furniture, but had little choice. The beds were pretty good. The kitchen was well equipped. The shower pressure was excellent (smthg I don't have in my home, and miss!). The beach front is nice. I think I would have been a happy customer if the place had felt clean and the living room furniture was half-decent -- esp. since we didn't go out on the beach very much b/c the tide was bringing the water right up to and under the house. So w/a toddler and no conducive beach weather, we spent a lot more time indoors that we normally would.

Comments

We are very sorry that your stay at Todd’s Inn was not 100% what you were expecting. As owners, we strive to make every vacation one that is totally enjoyable for our guests. Thank you for your comments. We will strive to correct those shortcomings that you experienced where we can. The baby gate that you found on the deck appears to be something that a previous tenant left behind. Permanent gates are not typically installed on decks nor are baby gates provided. The gravel parking area should accommodate four cars. Two side by side and two behind. There is a wooden walkway that extends from the house steps to the edge of the gravel. Perhaps sand had blown over it. Yes, the ocean has eroded a good deal of the beach in South Nags Head and it sometimes comes up very close to the house. However, after waiting many years, South Nags Head is currently having a major beach nourishment program implemented. By the end of the summer it is anticipated that 130 feet of new sandy beachfront will be added in front of the cottage, thus eliminating high tides coming right up to the cottage. Once again we thank you for your comments.
