Enjoy your Outer Banks beach vacation in this 4 bedroom and 2 bathroom semi-oceanfront duplex with great views of the water. Only 100 feet to the beach with no roads to cross. The ground-floor includes a recreation room with game table. This home also has direct access to a community pool (open from 2nd week of May to the 2nd week of October), perfect for relaxing in after a long day at the beach.

loved the rental

Kitchen was well equipped. The Fiesta dishes were beautiful. Beds and living area was very comfortable. Just a few little fixes. Not a big deal to me, but others might want it fixed. I had a great time and loved the rental. Thank you for everything.

ideal location

There are many repairs needed in home. Location was ideal but the amount of repairs and only access to top floor bathroom thru bedroom is not ideal. The updates in kitchen were wonderful. Updated fridge with ice maker and toaster in kitchen would be great. Beds were not comfortable.

nice features and amenities

The location of this house was so worth it. Many nice features and amenities. The pool was an extra perk, and so nice! The house is older but the owners have remodeled some of it. The kitchen was well equipped. You could tell it was recently remodeled which was so nice! The A/C wasn’t great and most all of our clothes, blankets etc. we’re damp because there was so much moisture in the house. Overall we had a great time and this was a nice house. You really can’t beat the location, and semi-private pool.

Great location for Kill Devil Hills with plenty of room. We happened upon this place because we like to take our dog and want to stay ocean side with a pool. For the amount of people in our group we cannot afford one of the larger houses. This place was perfect. We had six adults, two kids, and two dogs. We had plenty of room! The pool was clean and had plenty of room for everyone. The beach is slightly more crowed than other areas but still wasn't bad at all. Great place and I would for sure book again.

Great location, good for a small family/group

The big plusses for this property is that it allows pets, has a semi-private pool and its location. For the price, you'd be challenged to find a property that is oceanside with beach access right there and gives you essentially a private pool (shared with one other house). In addition, it is located in the heart of KDH so it is a 10 min or less walk to a number of stores and restaurants. I was able to walk to Duck Donuts in the morning and walk back from OBX Brewing at night. The view from the upper deck was fantastic and afforded a pretty expansive ocean view despite a large house directly in front and being flanked by a condo/hotel on either side. There was a cool stained glass window in the main family room. There is a 1 car garage that is available for use. Some not so positives - The house itself could use some updates. There is evidence of aging by water spots on the walls and ceilings. The furniture is functional but old and could be kept cleaner/in better shape. Beds and couches felt worn and the deck had the uncomfortable plastic patio chairs you get for $10 and the small charcoal grill you get for $20 at Kmart. I feel like if you can't fix the structural stuff you should at least at least update the furniture. Some things I want to mention - The bedrooms are relatively tight with the furniture. There is not a lot of room for storage in the bedrooms. The shower in the bedroom on the 3rd floor is a very small stall type - I'd guess maybe 4' x 3'? There is central air but it is not strong enough on its own; thankfully there are window AC units in every room to supplement. Wifi was good enough for browsing not for streaming video or anything else data intensive. Wifi is shared with the other house (Starboard). Cable had free on demand movies available. Most of the outlets are in use so if you have a lot of devices, bring a power strip. Overall if you are looking for a relatively cheap place with a pool, oceanside/view and in a central location where pets are allowed, you could do a whole lot worse than Portside. If those are not important, you need a lot of space and/or newer furniture and amenities, I would suggest looking elsewhere. For our small group, Portside fit our needs well enough. I would book it again, but I would probably check out other places first.
