great sunrises
Beautiful ocean view, great sunrises. Kitchen well equipped for a rental. Bedding and living space was not home, but comfy enough!

would stay here again
We would stay here again. It was close to a lot of places we like to go to when coming down to the OBX. We were able to walk to Goombays for dinner one night and my husband picked up food from the Jolly Roger the first night. The beach was nice, albeit a little crowded. The pool area was nice. Having a toddler it was nice to see a kiddie pool area. He loved it! The kitchen was well stocked and served its purpose for our stay. Most of the appliances were updated. The beds were more comfortable than other reviews I read. The couch was comfy, just very dated. The condo itself is a little dated but it was comfortable overall.

plan to stay again
Sofa was very comfortable, beds comfortable. Coffee maker started having issues. Kithcen, well stocked otherwise. Appliances at end of life. Have stayed in Golden Strand several times, plan to stay again.

wonderful stay
Great location and wonderful stay at Golden Strand. Some condo furnishings and supplies old but overall usable. Would update the kitchen cooking utensils and add additional lighting in bedrooms.

great time
We really enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was bright and clean. The balcony was wonderful and we had the best weather we have ever had in the fall. If there was one thing that really needed attention, was the bed. It wasn't very comfortable. We would stay here again, except for one thing.... the stairs... 29 steps to the second floor. alot of climbing several times a day. Be advised, the elevator is at the opposite end of the complex. But it does have a luggage lift at the base of the stairs. Other than that, we recommend this condo.

End of April 2018
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Similar to other posts, we were surprised and thrilled to see how close the balcony was to the ocean surf. At 64 I am not much of a baseball player but I believe I could have hit the surf with a thrown baseball at high tide. Years ago I may have gotten the surf at low tide. My wife and I like to play cards at the beach and watch the surf. This trip we played in the living room with balcony door open to the same effect. Leave the bedroom window cracked open all night and get lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean surf. The living room is an excellent place to watch the sun rise up from the ocean in the morning.
We walked (twice) from the apartment complex to the Wright Brothers National Monument just a short distance away. My senior National Park Pass got us into the first flight area at no charge.
The apartment was very nice. Nicely furnished and adequately stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc.. This corner unit is much recommended.

Mrs.
We loved the view and the decor of the condo. The only thing I would change would to add a coffee pot with automate shut off for safety and coat hooks on the wall in the entrance. We really loved the furniture, just like a real beach house! Great location and friendly staff. The view again was breathtaking! We definitely will be staying here again!

Gorgeous View
Okay.. so this listing does NOT show how amazing the view is from this unit. It is a 2nd floor END unit with an Ocean Front and Side view. ABSOLUTELY breathtaking. The condominium name is The Grand Strand and it is definitely dated. Our particular unit was in overall good shape but could definitely use a new coat of paint, updated bathrooms and some wallpaper removal. With that being said, how often are you really in your condo on vacation? the view alone makes up for its flaws. The pool was great, the access to the beach was wonderful and did I mention the views? :)

We stayed at TGS-C2 last
We stayed at TGS-C2 last year (2006) and the ocean views are spectacular!! The Golden Strand (TGS) condos are perfect for a small family on a limited budget, who want enjoy a week at the beach and not have to sacrifice on the view. As with every condo, there are pros and cons. There are many pros about TGS: 1. An elevator (3 floors). You'll learn to appreciate this elevator too! 2. New pool w/ kiddy pool 3. Plenty of parking available (be sure and check in with the TGS main office to get a parking pass!) 4. Did I mention the ocean view? Great! 5. As is the case for most beach front condos, stay on the 2nd floor or above. Otherwise, the dunes block your view. There are a few cons about TGS-C2: 1. The furniture & beds are "John Wayne" specials. The master bed is hard as rock. The dining room table rocks and rolls. 2. This complex resides next to the 1st street beach access, so if you don't mind a lot of people traffic going under your balcony, then you'll be okay. It is great for people watching. By evening, it calms down. 3. The TV's are old and small, but who is watching TV anyway? There is a DVD player. 4. The kitchen has new microwave and fridge, but the pots/pans/plates are very old and need to be replaced. Bring your own can-opener (it was broke). Bring or buy window cleaner wipes, since the sea spray fogs the external windows and obscures the view. If you want to go cheaper, then buy your food before you get to OBX. You'll pay more for food at the grocery stores and restaurants, so you won't save a lot of money by cooking your own, unless you buy the food before you get there. Have a good vacation!

Bowers TGS - C2
Great location and unobstructed beautiful view. Right on the beach. A little dated inside, but you are outside most of the time, so it really doesn't matter. The only major issue we had was with the beds. They were horrible. They were the old 6-inch spring matresses and it was like sleeping on a rock!! They could really do themselves and their renters a favor by buying decent matresses. If the beds were upgraded, I would definitely rent this unit again.
