The Third Annual Throw Down North of Town OBX surf competition will be held Saturday, October 8th, 2011. This annual surf competition benefits the local community.

The annual surf competition is open to locals and vacationers alike. In 2011, a pro division was developed for local professional Outer Banks surfers to compete. In the pro division this year, you’ll see the likes of Jesse Hines, and Noah Synder among others.

Every year the contest supports a great local community cause and the proceeds and donations are passed along to worthy recipients.
2009 – Surfrider Foundation
2010 – Isabel Rainy – Proceeds went to the Rainy family to help pay for medical expenses for their 13 year old daughter who suffered a severe brain aneurysm.
2011 – Outer Banks Cancer Research Center

The event is sponsored by Hurley and features a variety of giveaways and promotions. Come out to the Chickahauk beach access in Southern Shores and support a good cause for a fun day of sun and surf.
