perfect location
The Schooner Ridge area was great and the location of the house was perfect. The house it self was great. The pool and outdoor space needed clean up and maintenance. The kitchen had everything we needed and it worked well. Beds and sofas were great.

Beautiful, clean house! Fully stocked kitchen with absolutely anything that you could possibly need. We always have a crew of friends when we stay here and everyone is very comfortable. The beds are cozy and comfortable, with good sized bedrooms. The kids love the huge bunk room that's close to the pool table. The hot tub works perfectly and the pool is a must have! Full sized, very clean, washer and dryer. An easy walk to the beach with the option to drive and park in the community lot. Another easy walk is to the town of Duck. Tons of shopping on the boardwalk, restaurants, coffee shops, live music, and amazing sunsets on the sound. We return to this home every year and will continue to do so!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Ocean Sounds. Fantastic location: 5 minute walk to the ocean, boardwalk/live music, shops and ice cream. Amenities: Great sized pool with tons of seating and the hot tub seemed brand new or updated. Plenty of space for a large group. Clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook multiple dinners and make drinks. Cable TV worked well in our 2nd floor master suite. Nice sized washer and dryer so we could wash our clothes before we left for home. We’re really glad we chose to stay here and will come back!

Excellent Property!
My family was immensely satisfied with the accommodations at Ocean Sounds. We easily fit three cars in the driveway and could have added a fourth. The house interior is beautifully and tastefully decorated.
Beds and pillows were comfortable, bathrooms were clean, hot water was plentiful. The pool was a good size, the hot tub was clean with powerful jets, and the backyard area was surrounded with mature trees. An adorable fawn visited us several mornings of our stay; it was easily visible through the kitchen windows. Our pre-school age nephew loved the toys and books that are in the loft area. The adults in our group all agree that the kitchen is well-appointed and has everything you need for making food and drinks at home. We also appreciated the large washer and dryer in the separate laundry room. The beach is an easy five minute walk from the house, but we usually threw all our gear in the truck, dropped it off, then parked in the community lot. We didn't use any of the clubhouse amenities (except the adjacent playground, which the nephew loved), but we did enjoy the oceanfront pool and seating area.
tl;dr: This place has everything you want or need in a vacation rental!

Mostly positive, some items to note
Overall the house met our needs. It was close enough to the beach (< 10 minute walk) and the location in the middle of downtown duck was great. The pool and hot tub are in great condition. Bathrooms are clean and functional. Bedrooms are decently sized. The community is also really good. Two outdoor pools, one indoor, tennis courts, racquetball courts, a really nice exercise room, and a parking lot (!) right by the beach for residents.
On to the negatives:
- The comforters / blankets were filthy (sheets were fine). We washed what we thought was a beige/brown comforter and it was actually white!
- Only able to get one tv working in the house (family room). Many bedrooms have TVs but they appear to not have cable, so basically unwatchable unless you want to play DVDs
- There is no garbage disposal in the kitchen sink. Not a big deal, but people need to be aware as food disposal needs to be handled differently
- There are cockroaches. Not many, but we saw them. Some outside around the basement doors. Some in the bathroom off of the family room. It was well short of an infestation but it was very unsettling.
