Roads? Who Needs Roads?
Sherman's Travel recently released their list of Top 10 Secluded Beaches in the United States. Tranquil beaches in Hawaii and California made the list, but the Outer Banks' own Carova Beach took the #2 spot! Located just north of Corolla, NC and just south of the Virginia border, Carova is a truly unique vacation destination. But be warned - a sense of adventure is a necessity! There are no paved roads in Carova. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is a must because you drive directly on the sand (don't be "that guy" who decides to take his mini van out onto the beach and ends up needing a tow). Driving conditions fluctuate with the tides and weather, and it's best to drive in the tracks of vehicles that have gone before you. To access Carova vacation homes, you drive over the dune line onto back roads made of sand and dirt.

If you're looking for nightlife or shopping, best steer clear of Carova, NC. What you will find is miles of pristine, undeveloped coastline and lush maritime forest. Mother Nature is the main attraction in Carova. From the rolling waves of the Atlantic, to the peaceful waters of the Currituck Sound, the natural landscape is breathtaking. You may even see wild horses roaming along the back roads or along the beach (or maybe even in front of your vacation home!).

There is something magical about sitting under a starry sky with your feet in the sand. Feel the warm sea breeze and listen to the breaking waves. No bright lights, traffic, or noisy neighbors - just a sense of relaxation. You can literally "get away from it all" on the shores of Carova Beach.

Want to see why Carova made Sherman's Top 10 list? Spend a week or a long weekend in one of Sun Realty's Carova vacation rentals. A Carova vacation is something your family will talk about for years to come. This isn't your average beach vacation.
