e historic flight, three teams from across the nation have been working tirelessly for months now, recreating the 1911 glider in hopes to fly them during the four day Soaring 100 celebration. Duplicating and recreating the historic glider will not be easy. With 60 mostly undated photos, Orville and Alec’s personal diaries, a few personal letters and newspaper and magazine stories, the teams will have to rely on their own aeronautical knowledge and expertise to interpret the various resources.
The Soaring 100 will feature numerous events including a sailplane fly-in, vintage and modern glider displays, educational and entertaining symposiums, and special demonstrations. All events will take place at either, Jockey’s Ridge State Park or the Wright Brothers National Memorial.
