The Lost Colony , the nation’s oldest running outdoor drama, will be opening its 75th season and yearlong “diamond anniversary” celebration. The Lost Colony opened its doors and stages for the first time in 1937. The play tells the mysterious disappearances of the men, women, and children who sailed to Roanoke Island and founded the first English colony in the New World.

The Lost Colony stage sits on the edge of the Albemarle Sound, lending breathtaking sunsets to the backdrop of the play. The Lost Colony should be on every vacationers “must do” list. The action, beautiful costumes, and breathtaking scenery are all reasons the play has been successful for 74 years. The kids will enjoy the concessions, intermission and meet and greets with the Indians and colonists and the parents will enjoy the budget friendly prices. The play consists of two one hour acts with a 15 minute intermission in between.

On Monday nights the entire 2012 season, children ages 12 and under will be admitted free with an accompanying adult. Kitty Hawk Kites will be on hand Monday evenings with a rock climbing wall as well.

Enjoy a special offer exclusively for Sun Realty guests, use the promo code SUN2012 when reserving your tickets and receive $2 off any adult admission. Also, kids under the age of 12 receive free admission with any adult admission on Monday nights.

On Saturday, April 21, The Lost Colony will hold its 75th Anniversary Gala from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Wright Brothers Memorial Pavilion, featuring cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner catered by Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant, music by Rare Mixx and live and silent auctions.
