Dolphin Cove ADV-2A

We stayed at Dolphin Cove in May and September of 2011 and loved it. We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was for a condo unit when we first stayed there in May, and for smaller families like ours (just the 3 of us), there is plenty of space to spread out and relax. We didn't even realize there was a pack n play included the first time and brought our own before discovering one tucked in the closet--it's great that they provide that. If you've stayed in rental properties before, you should know that certain things are provided and some are not. We were new at this rental thing but made sure we knew what to bring. We were prepared with our own paper products and just bought anything that wasn't provided. No biggie. Given what this unit costs per week, how close it is to the ocean, and being able to sleep to the sounds of the waves crashing right outside the window, I'll buy my own salt and pepper happily. We had no complaints about the beds, couch, or any seats. I believe it was remodeled in 2010 and it was done very nicely. It's open and bright and allows a lot of light into the bedrooms and main room. The kitchen had everything we could need for cooking or preparing food. Although with all the great restaurants around, it's hard to resist going out, we did cook dinner a few nights and didn't have any problems. We didn't notice any sandspurs either during the two weeks we were there. Maybe the person before us actually ran the vacuum cleaner before leaving as requested? We did, knowing that the sand we tracked in despite our best efforts would not be nice to leave on the floor for the next family. I had no complaints staying at Dolphin Cove. We loved the location, it was close to shopping, supermarkets, restaurants...and the beach is literally a short walk from the door. I hope anyone reading the reviews of this unit considers every review, including this one, when deciding to stay here, because I know I would not have even considered staying anywhere a *second* time if I was even somewhat unhappy with it. I've seen family members pay thru the nose for a week in Wildwood, NJ for what amounts to a converted motel room with not even half of what this unit offers, or they rent a home that has cramped bedrooms and so many rules you can barely walk into the house with shoes on. We truly enjoyed our time here and are planning to return to OBX again in 2012. If you want a centrally located condo unit with beautiful views of the ocean and the perfect amount of space for a family of 3 or 4, try this one. We loved it and will definitely consider coming back to this home!

Very sorry to hear about the problems encountered by Christine Minnich "No TLC Here!" As the owner of the property, I feel I need to respond to the claims. My family and I were in the condo in August performing a mid-season deep cleaning and found everything to be in great shape. The couch is not new, but in very good condition, the carpet is less than 2 years old and sandspurs are hard to avoid at the beach, especially if people are wearing their shoes in the condo and tracking the spurs in. Sun Realty does not provide TP and states this in the rental agreement. They are changing this in 2012. A prior renter must have removed the shower liner and wine openers, because they were all there in August. Unfortunately, people steal things and we are unaware until after the summer season when we can get back in the unit. This condo was fully updated in the spring of 2010 and we plan on even more updates this winter in order to provide the best experience for our renters. The unit is painted a creme color and nicely decorated (see pics). Only the bathrooms are white and that was our choice to provide maximum amount of lighting since there are no windows in the bathrooms. Accessories add the color. No negative comments about this unit in the 2 seasons that we have rented it, in fact we had a book that people used to post comments and they were all positive. Unfortunately, the book was stolen last spring. We now have a much wider beach after the renourishment project and great views from our deck. I'm looking forward to serving customers in 2012. We used to stay in another unit at Admiral's View on the third floor for many years until our family grew and we needed more room. We were so excited to get back now that it is just the two of us. Unit 2A, Dolphin Cove was a huge disappointment. I realize that as renters, we are responsible for bringing everything--but I have never been to a place that literally didn't even have a square of toilet paper. No travel salt/pepper. No water in the ice trays. No Wine opener! (A true show stopper!). No iron. Carpets had briars embedded. Fabric extremely worn on couch-we threw a sheet over it. There was a new clear shower liner that no one even bothered to hang properly. They hooked the first and last holes, but skipped the 10 in between. The unit had been recently painted - a sterile white. Not homey or welcoming at all. No TLC here.
