2014 Labor Day Weekend Events in the Outer Banks Labor Day is the last hurrah of summer for many families. One long last weekend together before all the kids are back in school and the household settles into a workaday routine. While the water is still warm and the beaches are more spacious... Why not make that last sweet weekend of summer an occasion to remember? The Outer Banks of North Carolina may only be a small island of land. Just a string of small barrier islands at the edge of the Atlantic, these tiny islands are full of things to do on a long Labor Day Weekend.

This map contains public beach and sound access points throughout the Outer Banks, NC. The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau has provided a printable list of all beach and sound accesses complete with the amenities available at each location. (View and Print here) Amenities include but are not limited to: an on duty lifeguard, shower, bath house, wooden walkway, handicap/general parking, picnic area, and public boat ramps.

The Lost Colony

Celebrate American History at The Lost Colony . Tony Award winner, The Lost Colony , is the nation’s oldest running outdoor drama. It first opened its doors in 1937 and is widely acknowledged as the precursor to the modern American Broadway Musical. The production is enormous, with the waterfront stage itself being three times larger than most Broadway Stages in New York. More than 200 actors, technicians, designers and volunteers bring The Lost Colony to life every summer.

2013 Outer Banks Kids Camps

Bodie Island Lighthouse Renovation Complete

On Friday, April 19, 2013 after three long years of renovation the Bodie Island Lighthouse will be open to the general public! The Bodie Island Lighthouse has been an important fixture on the shores of the Outer Banks, so much so that the lighthouse was rebuilt 2 times! The first Bodie Island Lighthouse was poorly constructed. Years later when the foundation began to tilt towards the Atlantic Ocean it was decided a new lighthouse needed to be constructed. However, the newly constructed Bodie Island Lighthouse was destroyed during the Civil War.

Outer Banks Golf Courses Rank Among The Top Golf Courses in NC

Three Outer Banks golf courses are ranked in the “Top 100 Places to Play in NC” by Golf Styles Magazine. North Carolina’s Golf Panel determines the top 100 courses by using a scoring system based on the following factors: conditioning, routing, design, strategy, memorability, fairness, variety and aesthetics.
