Sun Realty's Enhanced Protocols & Preventative Measures for COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of our society, changing our personal lives, the way we work, and how we spend our recreation, leisure and travel time.
The COVID-19 outbreak in the US is a rapidly evolving situation. The status of the outbreak varies by location and state and local authorities update guidelines and policies frequently. As we learn to operate in a world where COVID-19 restriction and recommendations are changing, there is an understanding that that COVID-19 is an extremely contagious virus. The CDC states that the virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person, either direct or close contact, through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks. It may also spread by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes, though according to the CDC, this is not thought to be the main ways the virus spreads. There is still a risk you could contract COVID-19 or other infectious diseases while traveling, staying in a rental property or vacationing.
Sun Realty has implemented various preventive protocols and procedures with the intent of reducing the risk of the spread of COVID-19 among our guests, homeowners, vendors, employees, and community. We do not guarantee or warrant against the risk of infection.

This Notice and Disclaimer is intended as awareness and warning to guests of the risk of contracting COVID-19, a disclaimer of our liability and the liability of our homeowners associated therewith, and an explanation of some of the things we’re doing to mitigate the risk of the spread of COVID-19. There are also suggestions and requests as to ways guests can help in our efforts to reduce exposure to and spread of COVID-19. The CDC provides things to be considered for travelers within the US.
Our housekeeping team is trained to follow guidelines recommended by the Vacation Rental Housekeeping Professionals, based on CDC protocols, following all occupancies. Please bring disinfectant with you, as it is in short supply locally. You will want to clean and disinfect throughout your stay. We recommend that you bring paper products as well, at least until our local grocery stores are stocked and can meet purchase demand.
Sheets and Towels
If your property provides sheets and towels, or if you are renting or plan to rent linens or towels: Temperatures in our laundry facility are set at the recommended levels to activate chemicals, and those temperatures are monitored routinely. We use the CDC recommended amount of EPA-approved, high-percentage bleaching agent. Proper dryer temperatures are used, in order to kill any remaining bacteria or virus. Carts, delivery trucks and bags are sanitized between services. Carts are color coded and segregated, to avoid cross contamination between dirty and clean laundry.
Our linens staff is assigned stations and dirty linens never come into contact with clean linens or clean linen staging. Linens staff are required to wash their hands regularly and wear gloves and masks to protect the integrity of freshly laundered sheets and towels. All linens items are securely wrapped for protection and delivered to the rental property, remaining wrapped. If your property provides bed-making, sheets and towels will be unwrapped, beds will be made and towels will be placed in bathrooms after they have been cleaned. We have recommendations for bedding options. Homeowners select and provide their own décor, which includes the bedding. Residential washer/dryer sizes do not allow for bedding to be laundered on a weekly basis. Bedding options for your consideration include:
- Triple-sheet to cover the comforter or bedspread. This is a top sheet, tucked over the bed covering and under, with the middle top sheet then folder over that, to encase the top layer of bedding. To do this:
- Bring an additional top sheet with each sheet set.
- If you have rented sheets, the extra sheet may be added for an additional fee.
- You can also bring your own bedding to use.
Check-In and Check-Out Procedures
Our pre-arrival protocols will take additional time this year as we are cleaning and disinfecting the property, including additional high-touch surfaces. Therefore, we ask for your patience and understanding.
- Please anticipate a check-in time AFTER 5:00 pm. Our office hours will be extended on arrival days to support later check-ins.
- Our lobbies remain on limited capacity to provide everyone with room for recommended social distancing. They are only accessible in emergency situations.
- We are also providing No-Touch Check-ins and Departures. Your arrival information will be available for pick-up outside our office, in a drop box, or we will deliver it to you for curbside pick-up.
- In order to accommodate additional cleaning and disinfecting procedures, we ask that you're checked out by 9:00 am.
- Check-out remotely, via a phone call, and leave keys on the kitchen counter.
- If your rental house has a keyless lock, you do not need to come to our office. If you have not already done so,
PLEASE PROVIDE A CELL NUMBER (and which carrier you're using) so that we can text to let you know that your property is ready for occupancy
During Your Stay
Our offices remain at limited access and have maximum occupancy restrictions. Access is anticipated to remain limited throughout the summer. We ask that you enter our offices for emergencies only. Anyone entering must wear a mask. Plexiglass barriers between workstations and at the front counters have been put in place in all offices.
Our staff will work with guests via phone or videoconference to troubleshoot any maintenance or service requests. Our staff will enter guest-occupied homes only if requested and absolutely necessary. Masks and gloves are required. Our employees may not enter an occupied home until all occupants have relocated to a separate, distant area within or outside of the home. Our staff must wear masks during any interaction unless a minimum of 6ft of social distancing, outside, is possible.
If there is a service or maintenance need to be addressed while you are here, our technicians will be wearing masks, gloves and booties and will maintain social distancing. We will call you from the driveway and make a plan for entry into the property, maintaining a minimum of 6 ft from any necessary point of contact. We ask that any interaction is brief and that all others remain outside, on a deck, or in other rooms while our service technician is working.
A Red Sky Trip Preserver policy provides protection of your vacation rental investment for several covered events. Staying healthy and mitigating the risk of contracting COVID-19 will requires us all to adhere to recommended best-practices. Wear a face covering, wash your hands (20 second rule!) use hand sanitizer when that’s not possible, practice respectful social distancing. Stay healthy, stay happy, have fun.
