Important Post-Earl FAQs:

When can we travel to the Outer Banks?
View the latest updates and advisories from Dare and Currituck Counties. Even though the mandatory evacuation has been lifted for much of Dare County and all of Currituck County, please use extreme caution when traveling on the Outer Banks. There may be standing water on the roads and slow travel conditions. Note: NCDOT has announced that NC 12 to Hatteras Island is expected to re-open around 7:00 am on Saturday!

Is our vacation home OK?
Please give us time to assess the condition of our vacation home, clean up and take care of other post-storm tasks. We will contact you as soon as possible if your vacation home is not accessible due to flooding or if your property sustained any serious damage. The good news is that the vast majority of vacation homes on the Outer Banks are ready to be occupied.

Will roads be flooded?
Some roads on the Outer Banks are still experiencing standing water due to low elevation, rainfall and ocean overwash. Soundside flooding is also occuring in some parts of the Outer Banks. Visit http://www.co.dare.nc.us/public/roads.asp for the latest info on specific roads, including Highway 12 to Hatteras Island.
