The Outer Banks of North Carolina are centrally located on the eastern seaboard and are easily accessible by car from all major metropolitan areas in the eastern United States and Canada. Most visitors to the Outer Banks arrive by car. The maps in our brochure will be helpful in determining which route is most appropriate for you.

Generally these directions apply once you near the Outer Banks; from Norfolk, Va., and points north: Take U.S. Route 168 to U.S. Route 158 which crosses the Wright Memorial Bridge to Kitty Hawk. From Raleigh and points west: Take U.S. Route 64 into Manteo. From the south: Take the Cedar Island Ferry to Ocracoke.

The Outer Banks' central location also offers a temperate climate making it a year round vacation spot. The spring, fall and even winter are great times to plan your getaway. The rates go down, the weather remains moderate and the crowds are gone.
