Family Affair S-06

We have stayed in small and large homes on the Island and each one met and exceeded our expectations. We can’t say the same for this property, but, to be fair, the most disappointing aspects resulted from an act of nature not in anyone’s control. After days of heavy rainfall, water had pooled over our unpaved, ungraded driveway. Fortunately, there were planks of wood nearby which we moved to create makeshift walkways to maneuver getting from the house to our car and back. In addition to this inconvenience, the abundance of standing water provided breeding grounds for mosquitos, which so infested the island that on the last two days (we stayed a week) we opted not to take our early morning stroll along the beach. Hopefully lots of rain won’t factor into your stay. The inside of the house, the decking around the back and on the roof along with easy access to the beach helped to balance our experience. Though in need of upgrades, the house did offer an adequate place to relax at the end of a day, cook some meals and take a decent shower (the water pressure was low on the first floor where the master bedroom was located, but better on the second). Not to be forgotten was the serviceable outside shower. If you’re looking for adequate, affordable housing by the beach you might want to consider placing a deposit on this house.
