Truly, this house is a gem. Not only is the location fantastic -- you're right on the beach, and definitely within biking distance of Duck itself -- but the house is thoughtfully designed and decorated, down to the smallest details. We stayed here with our two young children and a second family, also with two young children, so there were eight of us in the home, but we never once felt cramped or lacking for creature comforts. The upstairs living space provides a nice "away room" from the hustle and bustle on the main floor, and the main floor brings everyone together beautifully. The kitchen is extremely well laid-out and a pleasure in which to work. My only (very small) criticism is that the kitchen knives could use sharpening. All in all, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Wonderful Stay
We stayed in this house over Christmas and it was wonderful! The pictures don't do the home justice. We're a family of five with a Golden Retriever and a boyfriend along and it was perfect. The kitchen is very well stocked. I brought some of my own pots from home and didn't need to. I love to cook and didn't miss anything. The house was immaculate when we arrived. The furnishing are very comfortable and the colors are beautiful. Having bed linens provided was a nice bonus. Really, our only complaint was the bed in the master bedroom. The mattress was very hard and uncomfortable. If we stay here again (which we definitely would) we'll bring some type of mattress pad for the bed. There's plenty of space for a family to spread out, but not so much that you feel like you're not even vacationing together. We would highly recommend this home to our friends.

The house is beautiful with the remodeling that was done. I will inform the owners of the toilet flushing maybe he can but some insulation in the walls for the sound.

Lovely House
We stayed in this house six years ago, and the renovation has made it almost unrecognizable -- beautiful new kitchen and bathrooms, gorgeous hardwood floors, and overall just an extremely comfortable place to stay. Great to be right on the beach, and the hot tub was a nice extra. The only thing that could be improved is the soundproofing -- when a toilet flushed upstairs, it sounded like a waterfall was running through the downstairs bedroom wall -- but other than that I'd say the house is perfect for a smallish group (we had 6).

We stayed at this house over the Fourth of July, 2008. Everything was as promised. The house was clean and neat. Great access to the beach. We will consider returning to this rental property.
A NEW house for 2011!!! Old
A NEW house for 2011!!! Old Man's Dune has been completely remodeled inside and out!! New siding on the outside, new landscaping, Kitchen and baths competely redone, New Living furniture, new bedspreads.
We stayed at Old Man's Dune the last week of August 2007. The thing we enjoyed most was the great location - right on the beach, and a short drive to Duck. The house is a little bit old, but we plan to visit again next year.
