One of my favorite restaurants growing up on the Outer Banks was the Fisherman’s Wharf in Wanchese. It was closed for a few years but has been reopened by the Daniels family and it’s just as good as I remember!
Let's see who can eat the most crab legs! Many families have an annual tradition of eating at a seafood buffet during their Outer Banks vacation. You know - the mountains of fried shrimp, the golden-brown hushpuppies, the seemingly endless array of side dishes and tempting desserts... And of course, every family has an uncle or older brother who decides he's not going to eat breakfast or lunch in order to "get his money's worth" at the buffet that evening. ;)The Outer Banks boasts several well-known seafood buffets.
A favorite locals' spot...Ocean Boulevard Bistro and Martini Bar is helping helping Outer Banks residents and visitors welcome the spring with 25% off specials on martinis, beer and wine (some bottles are 50% off!). They also have a special small plate/tapas menu.If you’ve never been to Ocean Blvd. you need to check it out! Upscale but cozy and welcoming on the inside and a terrific oceanside terrace outside. It’s literally right across the street from the beach and you can smell the sea salt if the wind is coming off the ocean. Ocean Blvd. is also great on weekends.
Sometimes you just need a big ol' breakfast. One of those mornings when a bowl of Cheerios or a cup of coffee just isn't going to do the trick. Know what I mean? Fortunately, Outer Banks vacationers have an abundance of options when it comes to "filling up their tanks" in the AM. Every town and village along the coast boasts a couple of Outer Banks restaurants known for their fantastic breakfast menus. If you're vacationing in Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head, check out the Jolly Roger, located at Mile Post 6.5 on the Beach Road.
This years Outer Banks Taste of the Beach was a great success. What once used to be a one day expo, showcasing local restaurants and chefs, has turned into a nationally recognized week-long food event on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Events that took place during the week included; OBX Chowder Cook-Off at Coastal Provisions, Porkin’ Ain’t EZ at Pigman’s Bar-B-Que, Tapas Crawls in Duck and Roanoke Island, a mystery dinner theatre, and much more.
As always the “Big Event” was the Taste of the Beach Expo, which took place Sunday March 14 at Pamlico Jacks in Nags Head.

I enjoyed this new restaurant the very first night they opened. I was recommended by a friend who had gone at lunchtime, and said they had the “best” wings. I took my daughter and we went for dinner. We tried the wings, of course! They were great! They tasted as if they were baked, they had a little kick to them, but the best part was the generous amount of rosemary, and they were served with blue cheese!!
The Left Bank, an upscale restaurant located in Duck, North Carolina, recently earned the AAA Four Diamond Award for the sixth time.“All Four Diamond properties are impressive establishments and it is rare that a restaurant can continue to deliver delicious cuisine and superior service year after year”, according to AAA Carolinas spokesman Brendan Byrnes.
