Don’t miss out on the Town of Duck’s summer events! The Town of Duck host free weekly events during the summer on the Town Green and at their new waterfront amphitheater. This year will be the seventh summer of fun-filled, family friendly events hosted by the Town of Duck. Enjoy children’s story time, live music, family magic shows*, yoga, and more. Remember to bring a blanket or lawn chair for events on the Town Green! Admission to the amphitheatre shows are either ticketed or on a first-come, first serve basis so get there early to get a good seat.

Head over to the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills on Monday, April 16, 2012 for a special celebration of Wilbur Wright’s 145th Birthday. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the whole day will be filled with family friendly events. Admission fees will be waived on the day of the event. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Junior Flight Ranger Program: Make sure the kids pick up their Junior Ranger booklet at the visitor center information desk. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Let’s Go Fly a Kite: Free kite building and kite flying demonstrations by Kitty Hawk Kites at the Centennial Pavilion and park grounds.

Head over to Jockey’s Ridge State Park and Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head for the annual “Fly Into Spring and Easter EGGstravaganza” event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 6th and 7th. The largest Easter egg hunt on the Outer Banks of North Carolina will be held Saturday, April 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with over 2,000 eggs. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for pictures during the Easter egg hunt, so don't forget your cameras! The annual kite festival is free and open to the public.

This Friday and Saturday, Santa will be at Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head at milepost 12 across from Jockey's Ridge State Park. On Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Santa will be on hand for pictures and on Saturday, Santa will be available for pictures from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.Join the fun from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, on Jockey’s Ridge State Park for Kites with Lights. This annual holiday event is a lot of fun. Grab a cup of free apple cider and a few cookies at Kitty Hawk Kites then walk over the dunes and see a spectacular sight.

30th Annual New World Festival of the Arts

Celebrating its 30th year, the New World Festival of the Arts will be Wednesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 18 on the waterfront in downtown Manteo. This annual Outer Banks art show is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Free parking and a shuttle to the waterfront is available from at the College of Albemarle.Since 1981, the streets of Manteo have been transformed into a colorful arena of original artwork every year during the New World Festival of the Arts.

The Wright Brothers National Memorial will be joining other national park sites across the country in celebrating the first day of summer by waiving admission fees tomorrow, June 21. The staff of the Wright Brothers National Memorial, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and Cape Hatteras National Seashore encourages everyone to visit one of our national treasures this year! Enjoy exploring the nation's site of the first powered flight, the site of the first English settlement or our nation's first national seashore.

Pea Island Annual Crab RodeoThis Saturday, June 11 from 9 a.m.until noon head out to Pea Island Wildlife Refuge for the Annual Crabbing and Fishing Rodeo. Every year local and vacationing families alike, look forward to the festivities. The event is sponsored annually by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Coastal Wildlife Refuge Society ."North Pond is often just loaded with crabs," said Bonnie Strawser, Refuge Interpretive Specialist. "But, we manage it primarily for migratory birds. So the pond, itself, is closed to people year-round.
