According to recent North Carolina breast cancer statistics, 34 new cases will be diagnosed and 6 deaths will occur in Dare County in 2010. At Sun Realty, we want to do our part to support breast cancer prevention, treatment and detection.Sun Realty is proud to participate in the Outer Banks Hospital's "Get Pinked" Campaign. A different kind of buried treasure...The waters off the coast of the Outer Banks have certainly earned the nickname "The Graveyard of the Atlantic." Since the early 1500s, well over 1,000 ships have ended up in Davy Jones' notorious locker. The remains of these shipwrecks litter the sea floor and sometimes wash up on shore. The treacherous shoals and strong currents along the Outer Banks are the stuff of legend.One of Sun Realty's homeowners recently stumbled upon a significant piece of the Graveyard of the Atlantic's history.

According to a recently released survey on TripAdvisor, the majority of animal owners prefer to travel with their pets when on vacation. Out of those surveyed, 61% traveled with their furry companions last year, 33% frequently brought their pets along on trips and 5% never left them at home. Often described as one of the most pet-friendly vacation destinations in the country, the Outer Banks is a fantastic place to bring Fido along. Just keep in mind that new beach adventures can mean being exposed to special dangers.

The Outer Banks Relief Foundation and Sun Realty are celebrating Christmas in July. Stop by any of our seven Sun Realty offices and see our employees sporting their red noses from July 9, 10 and 11. Donation jars will be available in the rental offices. Make a donation of any size and receive your own red nose. The Outer Banks Relief Foundation raises funds to help local residents burdened with financial difficulties due to a debilitating disease or illness, or a personal tragedy or crisis with themselves or a family member.

2010 is the fifth year of the Town of Manteo's Farmer's Market and locals say it's better than ever. Every Saturday morning, vendors set up tables and tents on the waterfront for everyone to enjoy. The goods range from farm fresh produce to handmade crafts. Shoppers can grab a free cup of coffee and browse the huge array of plants, baked goods, jewelry, cut flowers, paintings, vegetables, pottery and so much more while listening to live music!
