Let me catch everyone up to speed...For about a decade, "the bridge" has been an almost mythical thing. Locals and Outer Banks vacationers randomly heard that a bridge connecting the Currituck Mainland and Corolla, NC was a possibility, but thought construction was still years away. Believe it or not, we may actually be driving across the thing 3 years from now! Needless to say the Mid-Currituck Bridge project is a HUGE undertaking. Environmental impact studies, surveys, budget haggling, and public meetings have been going on for ages.

"I didn't know these things come in shells!" When vacationers visit the OBX, they head to Outer Banks restaurants and buffets in droves. Most local restaurants pride themselves in serving only the best quality seafood. After all, truly fresh seafood tastes so much better than the frozen stuff! Why bother eating out if you're just going to be served the same frozen fish and shrimp that you could get inland?Some folks shy away from fixing seafood dishes at home because they don't know how to buy fresh seafood.

With only 24 days until the 2009 OBX Marathon, the beach is buzzing in preparation. The entire community really comes together to cheer runners and walkers on to the finish line. Now this is some good stuff! Give it a whirl while vacationing on the Outer Banks or just enjoy a taste of the OBX at home.You'll need:1 pound fresh crabmeat1 cup macaroni sea shells, cooked and cooled1 cup diced celery1/2 cup mayo3 ounces cream cheese1 tbsp Worcheshire sauce2 tbsp sherry1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning 1 teaspoon horseradish Directions:Stir cream cheese until softAdd Worcheshire sauce, sherry, Old Bay and horseradishBlend until smooth, then fold into crabmeat, macaroni and celeryServe with fresh veggies
