Outer Banks Kayaking Adventures

The OBX is always an adventure on a kayak! From Corolla to Nags Head to Hatteras Island, we're surrounded by unique waterways that are just waiting to be explored.

My personal favorites are the many canals of Colington Island and Kitty Hawk Bay. You can launch right from Bay Drive located along Mile post 4 through 6 in Kitty Hawk. It makes for fantastic late afternoon adventure or a spectacular sunset trip.

Spend a day (or just a few hours) kayaking on the beautiful Outer Banks and you're sure to have an experience to take home with you. You might even find yourself surrounded by dolphins in Kitty Hawk Bay! Just be sure to kayak with a friend and always use good common sense. For instance, be particularly careful if you find yourself sharing the waterway with boats - when charter boats come rushing into Pirates Cove to show off the catch of the day, they may not pay attention to kayakers.

Feel free to ask me where to start your adventure. My friends and I love to kayak and I'm happy to share tips with you.

Remember, fun and laughter await you here on the OBX!

Thanks Kelley!

Love this blog post! My husband and I also like to canoe around Colington Harbour. One evening, we went out to watch the sunset and took a bottle of wine with us. We got a good laugh when the wake of a distant boat rocked us and I barely managed to hang on to the bottle. :) Of course, the ocean is gorgeous, but the sound doesn't get the attention it deserves. Looking forward to your next post. -Melissa
